Unlmtd Stages Solo Protest on BelCan Bridge
Belizean artist Bernard Cayetano, widely known as “Unlmtd”, has taken his activism from social media to the streets. He launched a one-man protest on the BelCan Bridge this week in a bid to draw attention to what he describes as systemic oppression in the country.
Cayetano began the solo demonstration on Wednesday, holding a placard reading “Enough is Enough.” The protest caused minor traffic disruptions but quickly drew public attention, both on-site and online, as motorists slowed to observe the unusual display.
“I noh know if they understand that we the live hostage. We are being held hostage inna our own country,” Cayetano said, pointing to recent developments in the transport sector as an example of decisions he believes exclude ordinary citizens.
He argued that while many Belizeans are aware of the challenges facing the country, there is reluctance to take action. “We all deserve better… everybody see weh the gwan, but we rather wait till the five years done,” he said, urging citizens to speak out sooner rather than later.
Despite standing alone on the bridge, Cayetano remains undeterred. He says meaningful change often begins with a single voice.
