The FIU said scammers are circulating emails using names, titles, logos, signatures, and even email addresses that may appear to come from the unit’s official domain. The agency said the messages are designed to appear legitimate and may reference loan approvals, financial assistance, payments, banking details, or other financial transactions.

The FIU stressed that it does not approve or grant loans, process financial transactions, or request sensitive personal or banking information through unsolicited emails. Officials are urging residents to be cautious when receiving unexpected messages that request personal details, passwords, banking information, payments, or confidential documents.

The agency advises anyone who receives a suspicious email claiming to be from the FIU not to respond, click any links, or open attachments. Members of the public are also being told not to share personal or financial information or proceed with any loan or payment transaction based on such messages.
