PM Briceno Rejects Corruption Claims in Immigration Funds Probe
Immigration Minister Kareem Musa has now briefed Prime Minister John Briceño on missing funds within the Immigration Department. But the Prime Minister is refuting claims of corruption, insisting this is something else entirely. According to him, the issue comes down to theft, allegedly carried out by an employee who tried to outsmart the system. Here’s how he explained it.

“I don’t think that is a case of corruption. That is a case of theft and the minister gave us a small report on in Cabinet and I cant speak too much about it, because we are doing an investigation. But it seems that an employee was quite smart in issuing out receipts and then cancelling the receipts and holding on to the money. But I really don’t want to go too much into it.”

“The opposition says the fish is rotting from the head.”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“I am going to be kind to the leader of the opposition and I wont respond to that.”
As we reported, the ministry has called for a detailed audit as the investigation moves forward.
