Belize Football Faces FIFA Reality Check
The development of football in Belize is getting a closer look, as local officials and international partners assess where the country stands on the global stage. The Football Federation of Belize, alongside FIFA, is reviewing findings from a recent analysis focused on amateur and grassroots football, a critical area that shapes the future of the sport and expands opportunities for players beyond the elite level.

“Right now what is being presented is the actual finding from 2023-2024 when they did the amateur surveys. Now they have everything in black and white. And now they have compiled the information for a hundred and five other countries. And we will be looking at how far the other countries are compared to Belize and for us it is looking pretty good that we are on right part, well organized and the work must continue.”

“We are here to present the main results, highlight the recommendation of the Amateur Football Environment in Belize Analysis. We conducted the analysis to get a big picture of the amateur football worldwide and in Belize with two main goals. We would like to increase global participation and to grow the game for all.”

“When it comes to grass root and amateur football, starting at the bottom at the grass root level, you either go to the amateur branch or the elite branch. In the world it is less than one percent that goes to the elite branch. So, it is important for us as a federation and FIFA and CONCAF to cater to the players that cannot reach the elite branch.”
The workshop included certified coaches from across the country.
