School Bus Overturns Near Pueblo Viejo with 32 Students
A routine school run took a terrifying turn Monday afternoon when a bus packed with more than thirty students from Julian Cho Technical High School ended in a crash just outside Pueblo Viejo Village.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that thirty-two students, including several from Toledo ITVET, were onboard when the bus veered off course. Four students sustained minor injuries and were quickly treated at the San Antonio Polyclinic, while the rest were safely transferred to another bus to continue their journey. Following the incident, concerned parents took to social media to sound the alarm over the pressing need for stricter safety regulations for school buses, with some questioning whether the driver may have been operating while under the influence of alcohol. In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Education confirmed that an investigation is now underway. The statement reads quote, “The Ministry is grateful that no serious injuries have been reported and extends its support to the students, families, and school community. An investigation is underway to establish all the facts surrounding the incident, and the Ministry will continue to work closely with the school community to provide any additional support that may be needed.” End quote.
