Surveillance Footage Key in Pomona Shooting Investigation

Gun violence in rural communities is once again under the spotlight after a brazen attack in Pomona Village left two people hurt. Police say gunmen riding motorcycles pulled up outside a local business on Tuesday evening and opened fire, hitting a twenty-five-year-old man and a sixteen-year-old boy before speeding off. Now, investigators are combing through surveillance footage as they work to determine exactly what happened and who is behind the shooting. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith has more on the investigation.

“Police are investigating a shooting incident which resulted in the injury of twenty-five-year-old Orlando Acosta and a sixteen-year-old male minor, which occurred sometime around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, second June 2026 in Pomona Village. Initial investigation revealed that these two persons were standing outside of a business establishment when they were approached by persons on board two motorcycles. One of the pillion riders of one of the motorcycles is reported to have produced a firearm and fired several shots, resulting in the injury of those persons. A number of video footage has been retrieved, and they are being reviewed, as it is believed that they will assist the ongoing investigation.”

“No motive has been established. However, we are not of the view that any of the injured individuals was the target, but another individual that was in the group.”

 

Police say the victims have no prior history with law enforcement.
