Woman Charged for Knocking Down Jehovah’s Witness
A Santa Elena family is one step closer to getting justice after police formally charged Stephanie Young for knocking fifty-five-year-old Cheryl August off her bicycle in the Hillview area and fleeing the scene. August, a devoted Jehovah’s Witness is well known in the community for regularly riding her bicycle to attend worship, visit fellow congregants and taking care of the elderly. She suffered serious head injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on Friday night. August was riding with a reflective vest and reflective gear on her bicycle. The family reached out to us after Young was reportedly released on police bail on Sunday, feeling she was being offered favorable treatment. While police have still not released a report on the incident, Young has been arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrates Court for multiple charges relating to the incident.
