Back-to-school buzz

Back-to-school buzz is in full swing across the country. Even with another GST-free weekend just behind us, some parents are still racing to grab those last-minute school supplies. In Caribbean Shores, Area Representative Kareem Musa stepped up once again with his annual back-to-school giveaway. Families gathered as Musa handed out backpacks and essential items to help kids start the school year right. The boys even got fresh haircuts, and Ozzie the Clown kept the crowd smiling with fun and entertainment. Musa joins a growing list of area reps who are giving back to their communities, making sure students head into the new school year feeling confident and prepared.

“This is our annual back-to-school event that we have. Ordinarily, we would do it at our office on Baymen, but because of the large crowd now, we decided to do it here at Noel Ferguson Park. Today we’re giving out backpacks to the children, schoolbooks, pens, pencils, erasers, even doing a little haircut for back-to-school on Monday. So, it’s truly an event to just motivate, energize our children and inspire them to get back in that frame of mind because we know that Monday school starts.”

“What has been the turnout in terms of parents and students coming out today?”

“We had a large crowd this morning, between 10:00 and 11:30. We’re expecting another crowd between one and two p.m. because it ends off at 2:00 p.m. At this event today, we’re expecting to give out around four hundred backpacks, and then in the course of the week for those who did not get, then our area captains will be taking throughout the constituency.”
