Bahamian Officials Tour Belize Farms Ahead of Agric 2026
A group of officials from The Bahamas are in Belize this week, not just for the National Agriculture and Trade Show, but to get a closer look at how the country produces its food.
Before the show even begins, the visitors have planned to tour key production areas across Belize. That includes stops at major sugar factories like BSI and Santander, as well as farms and businesses in Spanish Lookout.
Today the delegation met with Minister of Agriculture, Rodwell Ferguson, and senior officials at the ministry’s headquarters. Officials say the talks focused on shared concerns such as food imports, exports, and farming practices.
The Bahamian team includes agriculture and trade officials, among them Godfrey Eneas, Chairman of the Bahamas Centre for Food and Nutrition Security, and Dr Jason Sands, Director of Agriculture.
