Belize Adventist College Welcomes New Smart Classroom

It’s a big day for students and teachers at Belize Adventist College in Corozal. The campus just unveiled its brand-new Smart Classroom, a space designed to bring cutting-edge technology into everyday learning. The aim is to give students the tools and digital skills they need to thrive in today’s tech-driven world. From interactive lessons to hands-on training, this initiative is all about making education smarter, more connected, and future-ready. News Five’s Britney Gordon was there for the launch and tells us how this project is set to transform the learning experience.

There’s a tech revolution underway at Belize Adventist College in Corozal. Today, the school received a donation of fifteen new computers and a 3D printer through the Corozal Think Tank and the Government of Belize. Lincoln Blake, Director of the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, says this is just one part of a bigger push to bring digital learning initiatives to classrooms across the country.

“Right now we’re giving courses, we’re giving courses countrywide. We have had a link that we shared with all the schools and, and several people that we think were, would be interested of the courses in higher tier global digital services. One was cloud. computing, blockchain technology and that is a part of it of the fourth industrial revolution. So you all, you need to take advantage when you see it, when you see new technology, don’t be afraid of it. you tackle it, you learn it, you master it.”

 

The school also received a year’s supply of filaments and access to modeling training for the 3D printer. Minister of Human Development Thea Garcia-Ramirez, emphasized that that the access to education and technology expands human potential in Belize.

“When we introduce, digital learning into our schools, we are helping our students develop critical thinking skills in and skills in communication. We’re increasing your creativity and problem solving skills as well. And these are the building blocks of human development, which is near and dear to my heart. And it helps in preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to the wider world. So this project also speaks to our shared commitment to gender equality by giving both girls and boys equal access to technology and digital literacy.”

 

With cutting-edge equipment and specialized training, students will be stepping confidently into the digital era, armed with the skills they need to succeed. Minister of Community Development Florencio Marin Jr. says this project is about expanding minds, opening doors, and creating possibilities for the next generation.

“This investment, it is being done today, but the results, the fruits of it is not for today, and it is not for tomorrow. It is for day after tomorrow. What do I mean by that? You young people in about five years time will start take the mantle of the world base in Belize and in a couple more years time when you apply yourself, you will begin to start to begin to take on the leadership of this wonderful, beautiful country and what you do with this smart classroom now, gender equal because  the world is evolving now, gender equal. So it is who apply themselves, who work hard will be the future leaders and the future success stories.”
