Belize Basketball Bounce Back With Blowout of Guatemala

Belize showed there would be no hangover from Tuesday night’s heartbreaking three-point loss to host nation Dominican Republic. Instead, the national men’s basketball team responded in emphatic fashion today, crushing regional rival Guatemala by thirty points to keep its medal hopes alive at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. Belize came out firing from the opening tip, racing to a 57-28 lead at halftime. There was no let-up after the break as Team Belize continued to dominate both ends of the floor, eventually cruising to a convincing 94-64 victory. The Belizean offense was led by Josiah Moseley, who delivered a game-high twenty-two points on an outstanding nine for ten shooting performance. Elijah Favela added 17 points and Michael Caceres chipped in fourteen. Belize now enters the medal round and is likely to face Puerto Rico in its semifinal match up.
