The Belize Book Sector Network is celebrating the power of reading and literature with a two day book fair in observance of World Book and Copyright Day. The event, part of Book Week 2026, brings together authors, publishers, librarians and book lovers for displays, panel discussions and opportunities to engage directly with Belize’s expanding literary community. We spoke with President of the Network, Felene Cayetano.

Felene Cayetano, President, Belize Book Sector Network.

“The book fair is part of Book Week 2026. These two days of the book fair are full days. It starts at nine a.m. with the book fair itself where displays of books from publishers, authors, librarians, all parts of the ecosystems, printers come together and host the public, students, everyone interested in literacy to come together and enjoy books, enjoy panel discussion and meet the author sessions.  This is beautiful, when you see the full display of what NICH has brought out, the Image Factory, Cubola, BRC, some independent authors as well who have come together. We also have Backa Bush, which is a book seller, coming to the table and the National Library Service and these are elements of the Book Sector Network. Since 2009 when the first book fair was held we have tried to ensure that teach part of the book sector is represented and this year we are pleased to have a more organized program.”

The book fair runs for two days. Aspiring authors and publishers are especially invited to attend day two to have all your questions on writing and publishing answered.
