Belize Education Officials Hold Bilateral Talks in Taiwan

A Belize education delegation met with Taiwan’s foreign minister in Taipei last week as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung held talks with Dian Maheia, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, and University of Belize President Vincent Palacio.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions centred on expanding collaboration in education and talent development. Lin identified human capital development as a core component of Taiwan–Belize relations and referenced Taiwan’s longstanding scholarship programme for Belizean students as a key area of cooperation.

Maheia acknowledged Taiwan’s continued support in education and expressed interest in expanding exchanges between academic institutions. Palacio also supported strengthening partnerships between tertiary and vocational institutions in both countries.
