Belize Mourns Beloved Pediatrician in Emotional Farewell  

There were tears, applause and quiet moments of reflection today as Belize bade farewell to one of its most beloved pediatricians, Dr. Cecelio Eck. The emotional farewell began at the Coral Grove Medical and Pediatric Center, where generations of parents brought their children for care and where Dr. Eck dedicated years to saving young lives. His urn was then escorted through the streets of Belize City by horse and carriage to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where doctors, nurses and hospital staff lined the compound for a moment of silence followed by a powerful round of applause honoring his extraordinary service to the nation. The procession later made its way to St. Martin de Porres Church, where family, friends, colleagues and grateful patients gathered to celebrate the life of a man many described as more than a doctor but a healer, mentor and friend.
