Breakthrough in Belmopan Doctor’s Murder: Two Charged in Bonilla Killing

Tonight, we begin with a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killing of Belmopan doctor Naun Bonilla. Police have now arrested and charged two people in connection with his murder. Authorities say twenty-six-year-old Hannah Rebekah Foreman, a laboratory scientist, and thirty-seven-year-old Edwin Albert Bethran Junior, an electrician, are jointly charged with the crime. Dr. Bonilla was fatally shot on Friday, May twenty-ninth, in the Las Flores area of Belmopan, a crime that has rattled the community and raised urgent questions about what led to his death. While investigators have not officially confirmed a motive, information emerging from sources points to a possible business dispute.

We’re told Dr. Bonilla was involved in a real estate partnership with Insights Medical Clinic and Belmopan Medical Laboratory Services. According to those reports, he recently uncovered discrepancies involving missing funds. That discovery reportedly led to an argument, with the doctor indicating he planned to end the partnership and strike out on his own in a new business venture. There’s more. Sources say that less than a day before the shooting, two unidentified men on motorcycles showed up at the business office asking for Dr. Bonilla. He wasn’t there, but within hours, he would be gunned down. Tonight’s arrests mark a significant step forward in the case, but many questions remain. Investigators are now working to ascertain the full chain of events and determine exactly how this deadly confrontation unfolded. As the case moves through the courts, we will continue to follow every development.

New details are emerging following the major breakthrough in the murder investigation of Dr. Naun Ulices Bonilla, with information now pointing to what appears to be a bitter business dispute at the center of the killing. As we reported earlier, police have arrested and jointly charged twenty-six-year-old Hannah Rebekah Foreman and thirty-seven-year-old Edwin Albert Bethran Jr. for murder. Investigations now reveal that Hannah Rebekah Foreman was not only known to the victim but was his former fifty-fifty business partner in two medical operations, Insights Medical Clinic and Belmopan Medical Laboratory Services, which they established together in November of 2023. According to court filings, the partnership began to unravel earlier this year after the company secured a lucrative National Health Insurance laboratory services contract in January 2026. Disputes over ownership and control quickly escalated, with Foreman alleging that Dr. Bonilla pushed her out of the business by locking her out of the facility, cutting off her access to administrative systems, and placing her on administrative suspension. On the other hand, Dr. Bonilla is said to have accused Foreman of serious financial misconduct, including diverting patient payments into personal accounts, destroying official records, and attempting to secretly transfer ownership of the company into her sole name using a forged signature. That dispute had already escalated to the courts, where a full trial was pending at the time of the murder. Police say they detained Foreman shortly after the deadly shooting, and investigators now suspect that she hired Edwin Albert Bethran Jr. to carry out the attack. As the case moves forward before the courts, the developments mark a significant turn in what has become one of the most shocking and closely watched murder investigations in recent times.
