Burglars Target Belize Cancer Society in Belize City

Police are investigating a burglary at the Belize Cancer Society after thieves broke into the organisation’s offices overnight and stole several items, including equipment from its infusion centre where cancer patients receive treatment.

The intruders disabled the security system by cutting electrical wires before making their way through the building. The damage allowed those responsible to move around the premises and selectively remove items.

Among the property stolen was a large television used in the infusion centre, along with a small amount of petty cash and several other items. Fortunately, the organisation does not keep large sums of money on the premises, and a full inventory of the losses has yet to be completed as investigations continue.

A member of the society expressed disappointment over the incident, noting that the Belize Cancer Society exists to serve cancer patients and the wider community.
