Clifford King Retires After 27 Years: “Grateful for the Opportunity to Serve”
Clifford King, the Director of Local Government at the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government, has retired after 27 years of public service. His departure marks the conclusion of a distinguished career dedicated to shaping the nation’s municipal landscape.
Having served in the Department of Local Government since 2011, King spoke on sixteen years of notable municipal growth. “I have seen the challenges, the opportunities, but also the growth of municipalities over the last sixteen years,” King said. “The municipalities are in a lot better place than they were when I first got at the department.”
King also mentioned that Belize’s local government system stands well ahead of many Commonwealth and Caribbean counterparts.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, thanking those before him for laying the groundwork and urging Belizeans to take pride in the nation’s municipal progress.
