Coye Appointed Special Envoy for Finance and Investments

Christopher Coye has been officially appointed as Belize’s Special Envoy for Finance and Investments, according to a notice published in the Belize Gazette.

The appointment, signed by Governor-General Froyla Tzalam on February 9, 2026, took effect from January 1 and will run for four years. It authorises Coye to act on behalf of the Government of Belize in matters relating to finance and investments.

The instrument calls on all relevant authorities to facilitate his work and grant him the necessary privileges to carry out his assigned functions under the Ministry of Finance, Investment, Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation and E-Governance.

In September 2025, Coye resigned as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. The announcement came just seven months after he rejoined the Briceño administration, following the P.U.P.’s big win at the polls. While Coye headed back to private practice, he remained as a senator for the Briceño Administration.
