Gas Leak Blaze Destroys Home of 19
A gas leak led to a fast-moving house fire on Marina Drive, San Pedro Town, on Tuesday night, leaving nineteen people, including nine children, without a home.
Authorities reported that by the time officers arrived shortly before 8:00 p.m., the elevated structure was fully engulfed in flames.
Initial investigation revealed that 31-year-old housekeeper Naisy Chi was frying an egg when a hose connected to a gas tank came loose, igniting a rug and rapidly spreading throughout the house.
Fire personnel, led by Fire Chief Kenneth Mortis, later brought the blaze under control. Footage from the scene shows neighbours assisting, hauling buckets of water and using nearby hoses in an effort to contain the fire.
The house and all its contents were destroyed. Authorities confirmed the property was uninsured, and the total cost of damage remains unknown.
No injuries were reported. The displaced family is now appealing to the public for assistance.
