The Government of Belize and the World Food Programme (WFP) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement aimed at strengthening Belize’s ability to manage emergency supplies and logistics during disasters and other emergencies.

Under the agreement, emergency equipment has been pre-positioned at the NEMO warehouse in Belmopan to support the establishment of an Emergency Logistics Staging Area (ESA).

An ESA serves as a hub that can be rapidly set up during an emergency to support the storage, coordination and movement of humanitarian assistance and relief supplies.

Through NEMO, the government says it is continuing to build partnerships and ensure that essential resources, equipment and logistical arrangements are in place before disasters occur.
