Gunmen Open Fire in Unitedville, Man Wounded

A calm Sunday afternoon in Unitedville turned violent in an instant. Gunmen pulled up alongside a parked vehicle and opened fire, leaving thirty-five-year-old Johann Harder of Spanish Lookout injured and fighting to recover. Police say Harder was sitting inside the vehicle when the attack happened, adding to the shock of what appears to be a targeted shooting. Investigators are now moving swiftly, identifying both a vehicle and a person of interest as they look into what led to the brazen shooting. ASP Stacy Smith has more on the case.

“Police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the injury of thirty-five-year-old Johann Harder of Spanish Local community, which occurred on Sunday, 31st May, 2026 at around one thirty p.m. in United Ville Village. Harder and two other male persons were on board a vehicle which was stationary, and two male persons exited another vehicle and fired several shots, which resulted in the injury of Harder. The investigators have identified a vehicle of interest as well as a person of interest as this investigation continues.”

 

The incident has left residents uneasy about public safety in rural communities and are calling on the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
