The operation took place in Conservation Zone IV of the protected marine area, where authorities reportedly discovered the men conducting illegal fishing activities.

The fishermen were charged with engaging in commercial fishing within Conservation Zone IV, fishing without a valid fisherfolk licence, fishing without a valid vessel licence, and possession of fish fillets without the required skin patch.

Each man was fined one thousand Belize dollars for each offence, along with additional immigration-related charges totalling one thousand and five Belize dollars per person.

Their vessel, engine, fishing equipment, and marine products were also seized during the operation.
