Hospital Condemns Unauthorised Recording of Patient
The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) in Belize City is calling for the removal of video footage showing one of its patients after the recording was shared on social media, saying the incident violates the individual’s privacy and dignity.
The hospital expressed concern over the circulation of the footage, which was recorded and shared following a violent attack that left the patient hospitalised.
“Behind every bed in our wards is a person, someone’s mother, father, child, or friend, going through one of the most vulnerable moments of their life,” the statement reads. “They deserve compassion, and above all, they deserve privacy.”
KHMHA is urging that the video be removed “out of respect for this individual’s dignity and right to privacy”.
“This is not just hospital policy; it is a matter of basic human respect,” the statement said.
