Justice for Darnelle Puerto: Court Convicts Maskall Street Killer

A High Court judge has found thirty-one-year-old Shaquille Perrera guilty of murder and attempted murder in the Christmas Eve 2023 shooting on Maskall Street that left Darnelle Puerto dead and Jehvon Ramclam injured. Justice Nigel Pilgrim delivered the verdict late Thursday, relying heavily on Ramclam’s eyewitness account. He described Perrera as the gunman, saying he saw him clearly under a streetlight before running for cover. Puerto was shot multiple times and died at the scene. Ramclam survived, and his testimony proved decisive. Perrera denied involvement, claiming he was elsewhere, but the court rejected that defense. Justice Pilgrim ruled the prosecution proved its case and said an identification parade wasn’t necessary because the witness already knew the accused. Sentencing is set for July sixth, with reports ordered ahead of that hearing.
