Maskall Man Charged After Gun Threat Allegation

Police have formally arrested and charged a resident of Maskall Village with aggravated assault and Kept Prohibited Firearm. The charges stem from a report made on May thirty-first, 2026, in which a man alleged that while riding in Vasquez’s vehicle, he saw a firearm and asked to get out. Vasquez reportedly retrieved the weapon and pointed it at him. ASP Stacy Smith relays the report.

“Police have formally arrested and charged forty-five-year-old Virgil Vasquez of Maskall Village for the crime of aggravated assault and kept firearm without a gun license. This arrest follows a report made by a male person who stated that on thirty-first May, 2026, he boarded a vehicle that was being driven by Vasquez, and whilst inside that vehicle, he observed a firearm and asked to be allowed to exit. Mr. Vasquez is reported to have retrieved the firearm and pointed it at the male person. However, the male person managed to make good his escape. As a consequence of this report, Mr. Vasquez was apprehended and a point forty caliber pistol was seized”

 

In Belize, the highest caliber firearm allowed for personal, licensed use is a nine-millimeter.
