Mayor Nuñez Promises Updates in Murder Investigation

The call for justice in San Pedro is growing louder following the murders of businessman David Harmouch and security guard Daniel Jones. Members of the island’s Lebanese community took their concerns directly to the San Pedro Police Station, where they protested and demanded answers. In the wake of that demonstration, Mayor Wally Nuñez says local authorities remain in close contact with the grieving families and will continue providing updates as the police investigation moves forward. Nuñez is also assuring residents that officials are working to find the killer and bring that person to justice.

“Yes, definitely. I have been in contact with them. This is a very tragic situation that happened on the island. There is currently an investigation and we’re waiting on information on that.”

Paul Lopez

“What were you able to do, you and the minister, to quell the protests that they launched as a result?”

Wally Nunez

“Well, we talked to them. We told them and committed to them that the investigation will go on, and we’re going to be informing them as to how, how it progresses. It is something that well, you don’t hear much of crimes and stuff in San Pedro. This might be an isolated case, and well, it is very unfortunate. It does affect our island. It affects the sentiments of the people when it comes to safety. But I do believe that it is something that needs to be investigated, and we’re committed to them.”

As of now, police have made no arrests in relation to these murders.
