Mother Renews Plea to Support Son’s Mental Health Treatment
In May 2025, we shared a story about a mother who sought financial assistance for her mentally ill son Brenton Young. Tonight, Bernadine Young is once again seeking public support for her son. She says that he is currently being rehabilitated at Jacob’s Rehabilitation Farm in the Corozal District. Young, however, explained that she is unable to meet the eight-hundred-dollar monthly fee that she says the center is charging her to house her son.

“The reason why I am asking the public for a little help for my son who is in Jacob Farms is because we thought when he got sick it was because they overdosed him. Everything was going good. He was walking good, going to sell his chips and biscuits and everybody loved to see that and he got back sick and before he lost his mind I tried to find help. Sometimes I broke down with tears because I don’t know what is happening to him. So I tried to find help in the Jacob Farm Rehability and before he reached there we had to go through NCC, control drugs and they said it is not the one who use it, it is the one who smoke it, its the one who inhale. They overdosed him and it is in his blood already. It affects him, because when they feed him food he says he is feeding the people in the book and I cry, because I don’t know what is happening. Right now I ask the public please for a help for Brenton. He needs it because they charge eight hundred dollars a month, plus a hundred dollars to give to them to buy medication and other things, like toilet paper, deodorant everything. Right now, he is at Jacob Farms Rehabilitation place.”
Young says any financial assistance can be deposited into Jacob’s Rehabilitation Farm’s Atlantic Bank account. The account number is, 1002499811. Young can also be contacted at 667-4777.
