Septuagenarian Murdered in Orange Walk

Seventy-year-old farmer Francisco Garcia was found mutilated near his home on Monday afternoon after being reported missing. Police are now investigating what may have led to his brutal murder.

According to police reports, his body was found with several chop wounds in a bushy area not too far from his bungalow home off Santa Martha Road, Orange Walk.

Police say Garcia’s son went to check on him after repeated calls went unanswered, only to find signs of a possible break-in, with the house ransacked.

Police recovered a black-handled machete believed to be stained with blood in the yard. Investigators also noted broken glass louvres and confirmed several items missing, including an iPhone 11, a three-burner stove, two gas tanks, and a wheelbarrow.

One relative wrote on Facebook, “How could they do this??? They took him away from us! Rest in peace Tio, Granny, Granpa and my dad welcoming you while we are at a loss!” Meanwhile, a Facebook user posted, “Another Murder, when will all this murders end?”
