The team, known as the MCHS Bobcats, earned their spot after winning the 2026 National FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition held in March. The event, hosted by Belize Elementary School and Belize High School, brought together 10 schools from across the country under the theme “Unearthed,” challenging students to design innovative, technology-driven solutions inspired by archaeology.

The team will now compete against top student innovators from around the globe at the championship, scheduled for April 29 to May 2 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

The international competition, organised by FIRST, is one of the world’s premier youth robotics events. It brings together thousands of students annually to showcase engineering, coding, and problem-solving skills in a high-level, collaborative environment.

Representing Belize are students Maidie Oliva, Giselie Garcia, Carlos Blanco, Jaevanie De Paz, Aiden Logan, Anais Cruz, Mannat Lalwani, Morgan Chavarria, Zyanie Urbina, and Krystian Urbina.

They are guided by teachers Carim Ramirez, Michael Williams, Cecilio Garcia, and William Robinson.
