Shalliney Oliva Prepares for First Fundraising Concert to Support Original Album
From Viral Covers to Original Music
Belizean singer Shalliney Oliva is taking another major step in her musical journey as she prepares to record her first original album. After gaining recognition through her vocal covers online and earning an opportunity to audition for America’s Got Talent, the young artist is now working toward establishing herself as a recording artist.
Joining Open Your Eyes alongside her father and manager, Luis Oliva, Shalliney shared updates on her musical journey, the challenges of balancing college and music, and the inspiration behind her upcoming fundraising concert.
Having graduated from St. Ignatius High School and transitioned into junior college, Shalliney described this stage of her life as a major adjustment. Balancing her academic responsibilities with performances and music preparation has been challenging, but she remains committed to pursuing both her education and musical ambitions.
Finding Her Sound and Developing Original Music
Through a connection facilitated by the STEMI Foundation, Shalliney was introduced to a music producer who expressed interest in working with her. The opportunity has opened the door for her to begin developing original material and working toward her first album.
Unlike the music commonly heard in Belize, Shalliney hopes to explore pop and R&B, drawing inspiration from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo. She explained that she wants to develop a sound that reflects her personal interests while reaching both Belizean and international audiences.
The recording process has also given her a new appreciation for the time, detail, and effort involved in producing music. Although she previously thought recording would be a straightforward process, she has come to enjoy the creative work that happens inside the studio.
One of the songs expected on the album was written when she was just 13 years old. Inspired by imagined experiences and emotions, the song caught the attention of the producer, who saw strong potential in it. Shalliney plans to premiere the track publicly for the first time during her upcoming concert.
A Fundraising Concert Powered by Local Support
To help finance the album project, Shalliney will host her first fundraising concert on Saturday, November 7, at St. Ignatius High School in Santa Elena.
The event will feature a lineup of talented Belizean performers, with Shalliney also taking the stage for multiple sets. Audiences can expect a variety of musical genres, familiar covers, and the premiere of her original song.
The concert will run from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with live performances expected to take place until approximately 11:00 PM or midnight, followed by music and dancing to close out the evening.
Tickets are available at two prices:
VIP: $35
General Admission: $20
Food and drinks will also be available for purchase, and ticket holders will automatically be entered into a raffle for prizes and giveaways.
Shalliney and her father acknowledged the support of several local businesses and organizations that have helped make the concert possible, emphasizing the important role local sponsors have played in supporting her musical journey.
Family Support and the Road Ahead
Luis Oliva spoke about the importance of recognizing and supporting children’s talents, explaining that he has been committed to helping Shalliney pursue her dreams from the time her singing ability became evident.
He also highlighted the challenges young artists face in Belize, where a fully developed music industry and support system are still lacking. Rather than allowing those limitations to stand in the way, he has worked to create opportunities for his daughter to develop her talent.
For Shalliney, the upcoming concert represents more than a night of entertainment. It is an opportunity to bring her supporters together, raise funds for her first album, and take another step toward sharing her original music with the world.
The public is encouraged to attend on November 7 at St. Ignatius High School in Santa Elena and support the young Belizean singer as she begins this next chapter.
