Stake Bank Legal Battle Moves Forward in London

The legal battle over the stalled Stake Bank cruise port is moving forward in London, even as questions linger at home. Project founders Michael and Melita Feinstein are suing Honduran businessman Guillermo Bueso Anduray, accusing him of using his influence over Atlantic Bank to seize control of the multimillion‑dollar development and push them out. The claim, worth more than ten million pounds, a little over twenty-seven million Belize dollars, is not yet being argued on its merits. Instead, the case is paused over a jurisdiction fight, with Bueso challenging whether the English court should hear it at all. A March consent order shows both sides have agreed to push back deadlines, with filings due through September and a hearing expected later this year. The case adds another layer to a long‑running dispute that has already played out in Belize’s courts and arbitration panels. For now, the fight remains in limbo, unfolding overseas, with no final ruling in sight on one of Belize’s most contentious development projects.
