Stella Maris Students Face Delay in School Reopening

We are two weeks into the new school year and the students at Stella Maris are still out of the classroom. These students are losing important learning opportunities. But, according to Minister of Education, Oscar Requena, it’s a necessary delay, because the compound is set to undergo major renovations.

“Currently, there is a project that is going to rehabilitate the old compound. As a result there had was the need to find a new location. That location is the UB campus where the old teachers college was. We are finalizing the works in that are and certainly classes are going to resume very shortly. I don’t want to give you a definitive time, but I know the contractor who is doing the rehabilitation, because there has to be work done on the compound to ensure it is safe for the students, that is advancing very quickly, so I believe in a matter of days, that is going to be resolved.”
