Senator Christopher Coye was not the only government voice on the proposed bus concession. Lead Government Senator Anthony Sylvestre also took the floor to defend it.

Anthony Sylvestre, Lead Government Senator

“Over forty years we have had in our legislation in the regime to regulating motor vehicles and transportation this key and important legislation of limited and exclusive concession. Even forty years ago the government appreciated that there comes a point in time when it would be best if a concession, either a limited or exclusive concession ought to be granted. And as Senator Coye has highlighted or reiterated by Senator Wade, we are at a point in our history where it is clear to all on sundry and indeed it is demanded equally by all that our transportation system for commuters, that it improves, enhanced and we are able to meet that gold standard that I mentioned.”

The motions were forwarded to the Constitution and Foreign Affairs Committee for further deliberation.
