Team Belize Gets $50,000 Boost Ahead of Regional Games

Team Belize has received a major financial boost ahead of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Minister of Sports Anthony Mahler presented a fifty-thousand-dollar contribution from the Government of Belize to the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association to assist with the country’s participation in the regional games. The funding will help offset travel and competition expenses as Belizean athletes prepare to represent the nation on one of the region’s biggest sporting stages. With the countdown underway, athletes and officials gathered over the weekend for a final briefing ahead of departure to Santo Domingo. Team Belize will compete in two major international multi-sport events this summer. Five athletes will travel to Glasgow, Scotland for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and for the Central American and Caribbean Games, Belize will be represented in cycling, basketball, beach volleyball and sailing.
