“This Isn’t Like Her”: Daughter Pleads for Info on Missing Mom

A family is searching for answers after Monica Evelyn Neal went missing following a planned day trip to Goff Caye. According to Neal’s daughter, Lea James, it has been more than 48 hours since she last spoke to her mother.

“I spoke with her around eight nineteen a.m. I don’t have any information if anyone has seen her in person when she may have arrived to Belize City,” James said. “we haven’t been able to confirm as yet that she may be on the sea or at one of the Cayes… This isn’t like her. It’s already over forty-eight hours, and I have never gone over forty-eight hours without speaking to my mom.”

James says her mother initially indicated the trip would be a single day, but other family members later said she may have planned to stay out at sea for a few days.

The family has already searched Goff Caye, Caye Chapel and several smaller cayes in the area without locating her. James says she is now considering whether her mother may be further out, possibly near Caye Caulker or San Pedro.

“We’re urging if anyone is on the sea at the moment or is out at any of the Cayes if they have seen her to either contact my phone number or let her know that I’m trying to find out about her whereabouts,” James said.

James can be contacted at 673-7679.
