Three Killed in Cayo Road Crashes Over Weekend

Three people were killed in three separate traffic accidents in the Cayo District over the weekend. The crashes occurred in Billy White Village, along Bullet Tree Road and near Cotton Tree Village on the George Price Highway. The victims have been identified as twenty-one-year-old Jaime Sanchez, Daniel John, and motorcycle passenger Jocelyn Garrido. ACP Hilberto Romero provided more details.

“ On Saturday, the 31st day of October, 2026, police responded to a road traffic accident in Billy White. Upon arrival, they saw a pickup and a motorcycle with damage. The driver of the pickup was identified as Elmer Mendoza, and the driver of the motorcycle was identified as Jaime Sanchez. Mendoza reported he was driving his vehicle when he signaled to turn, and he stopped on the highway when he heard a loud bang. When he came out to check, he saw the motorcycle being driven by Jaime Sanchez had slammed into the back of his vehicle. Sanchez received several injuries. Then on Sunday, police responded to a traffic accident on the Bullet Tree Road. Upon their arrival, they saw a Kia vehicle with damages. The vehicle had slammed into a lamppost. Information is that the Kia was being driven by Daniel John when he lost control of the vehicle, and he collided into the post. He was taken for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. An investigation is being carried out on this report. Then on Sunday, again, police responded to a traffic accident between miles forty-four and forty-five on the George Price Highway. Upon their arrival, they saw a pickup with damages and a motorcycle. Information is that the pickup was being driven by Mario Cano when he, again, tried to turn on the highway when a motorcycle with two occupants slammed into the vehicle. One of the persons on the motorcycle, a passenger, Jocelyn Garrido, received several injuries. She was taken for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was Benedicto Guerra, and he’s being treated for injuries. NIP was served, a urine sample was obtained, and an investigation is being carried out into this accident.”
