Tourism High Season Looks Robust
Belize recorded an eight point four percent drop in overnight visitor arrivals over a four-month period, after a record-setting start to the year. As the industry looks to recover, officials are counting on winter bookings, more flights and continued marketing to drive a rebound in the peak travel season. We asked Director of Tourism Evan Tillett what the high season looks like.

“In terms of looking at the high season, we’ve seen the bookings and it seemed to be a very robust high season. So we’re hoping to make up back some ground. The softness that we have seen and the performance of the industry is not where we want it to be. But given the headwinds in terms of the geopolitical space, I think that Belize is still holding its own. And of course, we never want to have not have growth. And so we will continue to do whatever it takes in terms of marketing developing new air routes, and working with the private sector because it has to be a collaborative effort for us to continue growth in the tourism sector.”
According to the Caribbean Tourism Association, Belize’s tourism sector got off to a strong start in 2026, with overnight arrivals climbing steadily and reaching a record high in March.
