US-Iran Conflict Escalates: What Has Been Targeted So Far? 

As the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran continues to intensify, the number of civilian casualties on both sides continues to escalate. This campaign of bloodshed follows peace talks held a month earlier, which aimed to bring an end to the strife.

According to Al Jazeera, an increasing number of civilian targets have come under fire, with Bandar Abbas near the Strait of Hormuz being one of the most devastated cities.

The justification for these attacks on civilian or non-affiliated areas is that neither power wants the other to establish true dominance over the Strait of Hormuz. 

The US has made it a point to focus on civilian infrastructure within Iran, with those being hit including the Bushehr nuclear power plant, residential areas, administrative sites, sewage systems, communication towers, health facilities, airports and seaports as well as water and food facilities.

Iran has focused on targeting US military assets, but they’re progressively branching out into attacks on civilian infrastructure. In Kuwait, Qatar and the Strait of Hormuz, we’ve seen significant damage to various targets, including a power and desalination plant in Kuwait as well as commercial tankers off the coast of Oman, as reported by Al Jazeera.
