Who Took $20K From Police Evidence?
Police have confirmed that more than $20,000 in seized funds is missing at the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), with the Professional Standards Branch now leading an internal investigation.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, speaking at a press briefing today, said the discrepancy was discovered during a routine audit of the CIB earlier this year.
According to Smith, the money in question was seized during an investigation dating back to 2023. Several statements have since been recorded.
She declined to confirm the exact figure, stating only that it is “just over $20,000″, consistent with earlier reports. Smith added that the matter remains under active investigation and did not say whether any officers have been implicated or suspended.
We will keep following this story.
