UB to Graduate 843 Students in Two Belize City Ceremonies

More than eight hundred students will graduate from the University of Belize on Saturday, in two ceremonies in Belize City.  UB President Dr. Vincent Palacio says the graduates will receive associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and some certificates. Some of them are from newer programs, including criminal justice and criminology, and pre-medicine. Another ceremony follows the next week in Punta Gorda. Palacio says enrolment is above 5,100 and that UB is still working toward a law degree.

“We’re having the first one in Belize City. 843 students will be getting their degrees: associates, bachelors and masters, and some certificates. Because of the size, we’re having two ceremonies in Belize City tomorrow, one at 10 o’clock in the morning and one at 2:30 in the afternoon. So we’ve divided the graduation by faculties, so we have two areas. And the following week, on Sunday, we go to Punta Gorda to have a graduation ceremony there as well. So we’re honoring these graduates. They’ve worked hard. We will celebrate them tomorrow and next week Sunday.”

“Any first-time certificates being handed out, and new programs graduating?

Dr. Vincent Palacio

“We started a program in criminal justice and criminology. So those students, some of them are graduating tomorrow and Sunday. We also started the pre-med program. Again, some students are graduating from there as well. Not the first one, I think it’s the second year. So all these new program students are already going through it. So again, lots to celebrate. The University of Belize in action.”
