The agreement aimed at ending the war between the United States and Iran is expected to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, though details of the proposed deal have been leaked to the Associated Press.

If approved, the deal would immediately halt hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and allow Iran to resume selling its oil without restrictions while broader negotiations continue on its nuclear program. The framework also sets a 60‑day window for talks aimed at reaching a permanent settlement.

In addition to ending the fighting, the deal reportedly includes plans for Iran to receive at least US$300 billion for reconstruction following extensive damage caused during the conflict. In return, Iran promises not to build a nuclear weapon and agrees to two months of talks on limiting its nuclear programme.

President Donald Trump, speaking at the G7 summit in France, acknowledged uncertainty about whether the signing will take place. “It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs.”

The proposed arrangement has drawn criticism, with concerns that Iran is receiving significant concessions. The deal also seeks to end fighting involving Hezbollah in Lebanon, though questions remain about implementation, as Israel shows no signs of pulling back.

The White House has not published the official text of the agreement, and U.S. officials have disputed some of the leaked versions circulating in the media.
