Shyne Lashes Out at UDP Hypocrisy, Including His Father and Brother
Former Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow is accusing senior figures within the U.D.P. of hypocrisy, arguing that allegations now being leveled against Oscar Mira are no different from controversies that have long surrounded members of the opposition. Today, Barrow took aim at current U.D.P. Leader Tracy Panton as well as several senior party members, claiming they have failed to address allegations of corruption within their own ranks. He also referenced the controversial Boledo contract and raised questions about his father and brother, insisting that the party cannot present itself as a credible alternative government without first confronting accusations against its own members.
Shyne Barrow, Former Leader, UDP
“I don’t hear any other stakeholders speaking out so that we know that we have an alternative government because the critics in chief know the Tracy Panton’s and whomever else, they themselves were part and parcel of alleged corruption. Nothing to me was more flagrant and more deviant than the Boledo fiasco. That- that’s couple hundred million dollars that the then prime minister’s son was a shareholder into shell corporations and trusts. They did everything to disguise it allegedly. But so what’s the difference. She gave away the Boledo to hundreds of millions of dollars to the Prime Minister’s son.”

Shyne Barrow
“That has nothing to do with me, but I was not part and parcel of that certainly. I never benefited anything to do with those transactions, right? But and that’s why I could call it out. Then she speaks of Khalid, but Khalid is no different than Saldivar. I’m just saying. Khalid was on the plane with Lev Derman. We have the pictures of that. Khalid was in California with John Saldivar and Lev Derman. We have the picture of that. So if Saldivar is corrupt because of the tranches, what is Khalid? But hold on. The Belmopan City Council is investigating Khalid, is auditing him because they claim that millions of dollars are missing from the time he was there.”
Shyne also took aim at Patrick Faber, saying Panton’s continued support of him and others in the UDP disqualifies her from commenting on corruption.
