“It is something we celebrate every year on the twenty-fifth of June. It is a day established by the International Maritime Organization and really what it is meant to do is bring awareness to seafarers and people working outside everyday, life at sea. This could refer to pilots, the coast guard pilots, people working on cruise ships, the coast guard officers, they are all seafarers, pretty much taking on the danger so we don’t have to. Today we really wanted to do something different in terms of trying to have more collaboration, trying to establish more partnerships. So we had reached out to the Belize Port Authority and the Belize Coast Guard and told them we want to celebrate this day and we want to do it big, so that when people pass us by they know about this day. And so we said lets try a marathon. This is the first marathon we had with Belize Coast Guard and Belize Port Authority.”
The theme for this year is, “Carrying World Trade, Carrying the Risks”.
