Critics Question SOE, But Rosado Says Investigations Are Breaking Through

Police Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado is rebutting criticism of the latest state of emergency, saying it’s already delivering results where it matters most, bringing suspected killers into custody. Speaking in the wake of a deadly weekend that has reignited debate over the effectiveness of SOEs, Rosado struck a firm tone, insisting investigators are making real progress. And he had a warning for those on the other side of the law: police are watching more closely than ever. With a growing network of high-tech cameras capable of tracking faces and license plates, Rosado says criminals should assume their every move is being recorded—and that sooner or later, it will catch up with them.

“First of all, I want to say that the main objective of the SOE is to ensure that investigators can conduct their investigations without any impediment and that was accomplished because we had four arrest for murders during that time. The safety and security of our country is our highest priority and we will not allow any criminal elements to dictate the security environment of our country. Hence the reason we have deployed all resources to ensure we identify, apprehend, and prosecute those individuals involved.”

“Considering that one of the murders happened on Albert Street during the Saturday rush do you feel like criminals are not afraid of interdiction?”

Dr. Richard Rosado

“Without disclosing our operational strategies, I want to assure the public that we are applying all legal tools, proven strategies and coordinating with our strategic partners to address the challenges that face us. And I also want to assure the public that investigators have a wide range of camera networks available to them. Facial recognition, license plate readers. We have the advanced analytics that investigators can now track and identify vehicles and individuals from the time an incident occurs. So it is just a matter of time before we have arrests.”

As we have reported, multiple individuals have been detained and questioned in connection with deadly shootings over the weekend.
