Cyberbullying Case Crumbles After Chester Williams’ Absence

A cyberbullying case against former COMPOL Chester Williams has collapsed after he failed to show up in court. Barry Flowers, a police officer from Orange Walk, was due to stand trial today in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a charge of online harassment. But the case never got off the ground; Williams, the virtual complainant, didn’t appear. His name was called three times outside the courtroom. No response. The prosecutor told Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed that Williams had been properly served and multiple attempts were made to contact him, still, nothing. With no complainant present, the court dismissed the charge. Before doing so, Magistrate Mohammed didn’t hold back, calling it “a disrespect to the court,” especially given Williams’ former position as Commissioner of Police. He made it clear the court “will not be used for personal vendettas.” Flowers walked free and says he’s now considering legal action of his own. The case stems from a 2025 Facebook post in which Flowers allegedly criticized Williams. It’s now the second cyberbullying matter involving the former COMPOL to fall apart in court under similar circumstances.
