‘Fake Police’ Buzzed In before Robbing Vape Shop

Two gunmen posing as police officers pulled off a calculated robbery at a Belize City vape shop on Monday evening at around 6 o’clock. The men escaped with more than $20,000 in cash before being captured after a police chase.

An eyewitness who requested to remain anonymous told News 5 that the pair arrived at the Daly Street business on a motorcycle, dressed in police-style camouflage uniforms and full helmets. Their appearance raised no suspicion.

The shop operates a controlled entry system, and staff buzzed the men inside, allegedly not suspecting anything unusual.

Moments later, a struggle unfolded inside.

Police say one man pressed a firearm to an employee’s neck while the other emptied the establishment of cash and dozens of disposable vapes. The money had reportedly been counted following a car sale.

The men fled on the motorcycle. Officers nearby responded within minutes and pursued them.

During the pursuit, one suspect fired at police.

Both men were eventually detained. Police recovered the stolen cash along with two loaded firearms.
