Security Guards Overpowered In Novelo’s Bus Terminal Robbery
A bold overnight robbery has added to growing concerns about crime in Belize City. Police say three armed men targeted the Novelo’s bus terminal in the early hours of Monday morning, overpowering security guards, tying them up, and forcing their way into the business office. The culprits reportedly made off with cash and two cell phones before escaping the scene. Now, investigators are working to identify those responsible and determine how the robbery was carried out. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero has more on the case.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“This morning, I received a burglary report at the bus terminal. Police responding to the area where the security guards who were working at the time reported that they had been tied up by three male persons who were armed with firearms. They then took the keys for the office. They went into the office where they stole some cash, and they also stole the two cell phones belonging to the security guards. I do not have the exact amount, but it’s not nothing over eight hundred dollars.”
