Police have arrested and charged two men following a Friday morning operation in Belmopan that led to the discovery of a firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition.

According to ASP Stacy Smith, the operation was carried out on May 15, 2026, at around 8:30 a.m., when officers intercepted a vehicle in which the two suspects were travelling.

Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a 9mm Beretta pistol, along with a total of 51 rounds of ammunition, including 28 rounds of 7.62 calibre, 15 rounds of .22 calibre, and 8 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The men have been identified as 23-year-old Kamron Adolphus of Burrell Boom Village and 20-year-old Culzac Vaughn of Roaring Creek Village.

Adolphus has since pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing, while Kulzak entered a not guilty plea and is awaiting a further court appearance. Both men have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

When asked how the weapons came to be in the men’s possession, ASP Smith pointed to Belize’s porous border as a primary entry point for illegal firearms. “We continue our efforts on our part to try to conduct operations along the borderlines and those porous areas with a view to deterring these type of activities,” she said, adding that the Mobile Interdiction Team is specifically tasked with that mandate. She noted a recent instance where a separate attempt to import multiple firearms was successfully intercepted at customs.
