Two Persons Charged with Teen’s Murder
Police have formally charged two people in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Isaiah Norales, who was shot while riding his bicycle in Dangriga on Sunday morning.
Charged are 25-year-old Naheem Bonilla, a Belizean welder, and a 17-year-old male minor, both of Dangriga Town.
The shooting happened shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Penn Road. According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of the National Crime Investigation Branch, Norales was riding in the Benguche area when two men on a motorcycle approached and one opened fire.
He was taken for treatment but later died from his injuries. Romero said investigators believe the attack stemmed from a dispute the teen had with the two individuals.
Relatives told News Five that Norales had been living with extended family after losing both parents at a young age and that efforts had been made to keep him away from negative influences.
They also said he identified his attacker before he died.
