Two Shootings Overnight; Police Say Pomona Victims Likely Not Intended Targets
Police are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred within hours of each other in the Stann Creek District last night. It left three people injured across separate locations.
In the first incident, 25-year-old Orlando Acosta and a 16-year-old male were injured on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, around 6:30 p.m. in Pomona Village. According to police, two motorcycles approached the group, and a passenger on one of the bikes produced a firearm and fired several shots, hitting both individuals.
Speaking on behalf of police, ASP Stacy Smith said, “We are not of the view that any of the injured individuals was the target, but another individual that was in the group.”
A number of video recordings from the area have been retrieved and are being reviewed. No motive has been established, and no arrests have been announced.
Roughly two and a half hours later, at around 9:00 p.m., 19-year-old Jason Marin of Dangriga Town was shot in the Rivas Estate area. Police say Marin was entering a property when an individual in a vehicle stopped and fired multiple shots, hitting him.
Smith noted that the property Marin was entering had previously been the subject of police operations related to drugs and weapons. Marin is listed in critical but stable condition.
Both investigations are ongoing.
